What is indoor cycling?

Indoor cycling is a group fitness class led by a certified instructor. The class focuses on endurance, strength, high/low intensity intervals and recovery; it involves music and an instructor leading participants through a routine that’s designed to simulate various outdoor landscapes such as hills and flatland.

I’ve never taken a Spinning class before. What should I expect?

Every class is a little different, but one of the great things about the Indoor cycling class is that it is adaptable to your fitness level. Remember that there’s no competition. Listen to your body and adjust the resistance on your bike accordingly. If you’re a first timer, let your instructor know. He or she can make sure your bike is properly adjusted and give you a rundown on the core movements.

Do I have to be in great shape to participate in an Indoor cycling class?

Anyone can benefit from the Indoor cycling class. You can go at your own pace by controlling the resistance on your bike. Regardless of how fit, flexible or coordinated you are, you’ll get a great workout. Simply hop on your bike, set the resistance to the level that’s right for you, and let your instructor guide you through an incredible ride. Taking Indoor cycling classes is a great way to get fit and reach your fitness goals.

What are the benefits of indoor cycling?

Indoor cycling is an awesome cardio workout that burns calories, increases stamina and metabolism, and helps a person develop a toned and strong body without putting too much stress on joints. An indoor cycling workout can be adapted to any fitness level, and the capacity to adjust your bike’s resistance level guarantees a unique level of individual control.

What should I wear? Do I need cycling shoes?

It’s important to wear a tee-shirt or tank with shorts or spandex leggings. Although cycling shorts are not necessary, many people wear them because they’re comfortable and they help ease saddle soreness (especially during the first few rides). Throughout the winter months, the studio can be chilly so it’s a good idea to wear layers that can be taken off as your body heats up. Stiff-sole athletic sneakers are fine and will easily fit into our bikes’ pedal cages; however, cycling shoes with SPD clips are recommended.

Should I bring water?

YES, we highly recommend bringing lots of water because necessary hydration is vital for an enjoyable, successful and energizing ride.  It’s a good idea to begin drinking water 2 hours before your ride and to continue drinking during and after your ride.

Should I eat before class?

It’s a good idea to have a light snack 30 minutes before your ride.  This helps maintain blood sugar levels and energy levels for the length of your ride. 

What time should I arrive?

First time riders are expected to arrive 15 to 20 minutes early so we can guide you through a brief orientation and help you make bike adjustments for your height and comfort.  Experienced riders are encouraged to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to class in order to adjust bike to their personal settings.  All classes start promptly on time.

Will I have to sign a waiver?

Yes, all riders are required to sign a waiver prior to their first ride.  Riders under the age 17 years old must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian..

How do I register and pay for a class?

We have partnered with MINDBODY to offer you a way to register and pay for classes online. We encourage you to create an account and register online, but walk-ins are also welcome (upon availability of bikes). We do not take class reservations by phone. You can pay with your MasterCard, Visa, American Express, or Discover online or in the studio. Cash and checks are also accepted in the studio at time of purchase. All debit cards will be run as credit.

Do you have showers?

We are a boutique studio so we do not have showers.

Can my kids hang out in the studio while I take a class?

No, we do not provide child care.

What is your cancellation policy?

In order to cancel a booking in a Ana Almeida Cycling + Fitness Studio class and return the class to your Ana Almeida Cycling + Fitness Studio MINDBODY account, you must cancel within 8 hours of such class to avoid a penalty. Late cancellations (7 hours and 59 minutes up to one hour prior to class start time), cancellations made within 60 minutes of the class start time or not showing up for the class will result in one class pass being debited from remaining classes. If you do not have any class pass remaining, you will be charged for one class. No refunds will be issued.
